Denise McAdam came to the forefront of British hairdressing in 1980. Training as a hairdresser at the hairdressing in 1980. Training as a hairdresser at the legendary Michaeljohns salon in Mayfair Denise’s ambition knew no bounds. Her first shoot with Vogue was at the age of 20 where she forged life long relationships with Barbra Daly and John Swannell.
Her quiet expertise and professionalism led to her being requested by many brilliant photographers such as Bailey, Lord Lichfield, Lord Snowden and Terry O’Neill. In 1986 Denise’s work came to the media’s attention when she styled the Duchess of York’s hair for her wedding to Prince Andrew.
A huge milestone in Denise’s career came three years later when she received the Royal Warrant and became the first female to have her name above a standalone salon in London. Now a regular on daytime television, as well as fronting a national campaign for Unilever, Denise was also the first female celebrity hairdresser, was also the first female celebrity hairdresser, sharing her passion with viewers in classic McAdam style.
For over three decades, Denise has been working her ‘McAdam Magic’ on generations of style icons including Grace Kelly, Joan Collins, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford, Jane Seymour, Anna Wintour, Rachel Hunter, Stephanie Beecham, Naomi Campbell and Kylie Minogue and continues to be in constant demand by future fashionistas.
As well as her undisputed talent, one of Denise’s key attributes is her ability to build relationships. Her commitment and respect has seen her recently awarded the Royal Victorian Medal for services to the Royal Family. Her expertise, knowledge and no-nonsense advice have ensured that Denise is always on the speed dial of celebrities, beauty editors, bloggers and international press.
Moving effortlessly across the years, Denise makes everyone feel and look fabulous – her ability to create looks that are fresh and appealing is a rare talent. Whilst continuing to look after her high profile clientele, today Denise has invested her experience and knowledge in product R&D. Combining Denise’s extensive know-how with cutting edge biotechnology, an performance-driven range was launched in 2002 and over the next decade grew and developed in line with emerging hair trends.
